18th International Network Strategy and Planning Symposium (NETWORKS 2018)

10 September, 2018 - 13 September, 2018

The Telecommunication Networks Engineering Group of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena is pleased to announce the 18th International Network Strategy and Planning Symposium (NETWORKS 2018) which will be kindly hosted at Los Alcázares, Cartagena, Spain, September 10-12, 2018.

Los Alcázares is located next to the inner sea “Mar Menor”, fifteen-minute drive to city centre of Cartagena, cultural and touristic places. Cartagena is famous for its unique artistic heritage, with numerous landmarks such as the Roman Theatre and a lot of Phoenician, Roman, Byzantine and Moorish remains.

Networks 2018 is the 18th edition of a symposium held every two years which attracts participants from all over the world. Network operators, software designers, system integrators, researchers from universities and industry, marketers, regulators and policy-makers convene to present their latest findings and share experiences in network strategy, planning, operations, management, control and design.
The prime focus of Networks 2018 is on new challenges in network design, planning, management and operations. These challenges are induced by several recent technological developments such as: Software Defined Networking (SDN), Cloud Networking, Big Data Networking, omnipresent virtualization of resources leading to Virtual Networks Operations (VNO), as well as the increased diversity of overlaid large-scale infrastructures (Smart Cities, Smart Grid, Internet of Things).

The scope of Networks 2018 includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:
